The freeze on withdrawals was a consequence of King being investigated by PayPal over how Royal Games operates in specific countries. After a lengthy investigation by Eurogamer, the site’s withdrawal page has now become available again, though the site continues to no longer accept real-world money deposits. Royal Games is a web portal which hosts browser-based versions of popular King franchises such as Candy Crush, where players can pay a fee to enter tournaments, or play head-to-head games....

The long-rumoured Resi 4 remake was finally unveiled back in June, and was initially announced for just PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. Today, during a Tokyo Games Show livestream, Capcom said it had been working on securing a last-gen version of the game as well - and it had done so, but only for PS4. No comment was made on why it had only selected the PS4, though Sony’s previous console does enjoy a sizable install base in the company’s home of Japan - unlike the Xbox One....

Whilst Kobayashi left Capcom on 1st March 2022, he chose 12th August - his 50th birthday - to make the announcement that he had left the famed Japanese company to take up another producer position at NetEase. “Today, 12th August, is my 50th birthday,” Kobayashi’s statement begins. “As such, I would like to share something very special with everyone: After serving 27 years with gratitude, I have departed from Capcom on 1st March and will be officially joining NetEase as a producer....

City Wars: Tokyo Reign is the kind of game that surprises me. It surprises me constantly, with great roguelite runs like last night’s, in which I almost gave up but ended up travelling further than I could have imagined. It surprises me as I see a new wrinkle in its endless unspooling strategies, as I find a new synergy in its cards. It surprised me at the start by filling me with raw enthusiasm for a collectible card game that was also a roguelite - hardly a genre mash-up in short supply....

The racing game launches 16th July 2021 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and S, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC via Steam. As you’d expect, the game features the teams, drivers and circuits for the 2021 FIA Formula One World Championship. Expect a “visual uplift” and faster loading times on PS5 and Xbox Series X, Codemasters said. There’s also a brand-new story mode, and expanded career mode with a two-player option, and three new circuits: Portimão, Imola, and Jeddah....

Developer Crystal Dynamics has released a survey asking its fans what they would most like to see if the series was to make a come back. This survey (which you can complete yourself by following this link) asks about preferred platforms, whether users would like to see a reboot, remake or sequel to the Legacy of Kain series, and what it is about vampire games that captures your attention, among other things....

Originally announced back in 2018, The Delicious Last Course has been a longtime coming for starving Cuphead fans. Priced £6.79, it adds around four hours of things to do on the brand new Inkwell Isle, and introduce new playable character Ms. Chalice. Studio MDHR’s aim, it says, is not only to provide something extra to play, but add new gameplay flavours to the existing main game. As an amuse bouche, Eurogamer got a hands-off peek at the new DLC and it’s looking like there will be plenty to sink your teeth into....

Leading the Cyberpunk 2077 in third-person charge is modder Jelle Bakker, whose “TPP MOD WIP third-person” works well in certain situations, such as walking the Night City streets. Confirmation comes as part of a list of bonus features for the upcoming animated movie Batman: The Long Halloween, Part Two. The bonus in question is “a sneak peek at the next DC animated movie - an advanced look at Injustice”. That’s all we know for now. Injustice is of course a series of DC-flavoured fighting games from Mortal Kombat developer NetherRealm. Injustice: Gods Among Us came out in 2013, before a sequel, Injustice 2, came out in May 2017....

Rebirth - which follows on from Frictional’s 2010 original and its Chinese-Room-developed successor A Machine for Pigs - whisks players back to the 1930s for an unsettling adventure across the Algerian desert. This time around, the focus is on protagonist Tasi Trianon as she attempts to navigate the sandy, hostile expanse, piecing together fragments of her past (and occasionally dealing with unspeakable horrors) along the way. Eurogamer contributor Vikki Blake called Rebirth an “impressive horror subversion” and a story that “gripped me right up until the credits rolled” when she reviewed it back in 2020, so it’s an outing that’s well worth your time - and there’s even an Adventure Mode that cuts back on the suffocating darkness, jump scares, and deadly monsters for faint-hearted players that just want to dabble in its puzzling and engaging story....

2019’s introduction of Destiny 2 cross saves was a step in the right direction, allowing you to take your progress to a platform of your choice, but you are then still tied to playing with others on that system. The arrival of Destiny 2 on PS5 and Xbox Series brings this reality a little closer with the introduction of inter-generational crossplay. With its streets lined by crumbled concrete, patrolled by renegades in hockey masks and spiked leather jackets and where the surly survivor’s wardrobes seems to come entirely from Wickes, Dying Light 2 has an aesthetic that’s straight out of a second tier Xbox 360 game. It’s light on innovation but Dying Light 2 has the scope and breadth of your modern triple-A, rippling with systems and overwhelming in size. It looks and feels like the most ambitious Xbox 360 game ever made, and I’m fairly certain I mean that as high praise....

In an interview with wccftech, Dying Light 2 lead designer Tymon Smektała has confirmed the first “runs parallel to the main story”. “It can be started right after Aiden arrives in The City. Since it’s the first one out the gate, we didn’t want to force players to finish the game before they’d be able to have fun with it,” Smektała said. “I went through some of the speculations our community has expressed online, but I haven’t seen any of those theories get it right....
